Disabilities Assessment & Authorization
If you have ever been
diagnosed with a Learning Disability …
Students are often diagnosed
with learning disabilities as children. ACCESS can help you determine
if this learning difference is continuing to affect your adult learning
and what types of accommodations might be needed at the college
level. Call or drop by the ACCESS Center to make an appointment
with a Learning Disabilities Specialist.
If you think you might have a Learning Disability or some other
invisible disability…
Some students are unaware
of their learning differences until they reach the more difficult
college level classes. ACCESS can help students discover their unique
learning style and, when warranted, assess students to determine
if a disability does exist and what services and accommodations
are appropriate.
If you are unduly struggling
with your college level classes, call or drop by the ACCESS Center
for more information about adults with learning differences. If
you wish, you can then request an appointment with a Learning Disabilities
Specialist who will meet with you to determine if testing is recommended,
and/or make suggestions regarding campus or community services and
resources or study strategies you may find helpful.
If you both decide assessment
is appropriate, a series of testing appointments will be scheduled.
When testing is completed, you will again meet with the Specialist
to discuss the results and to receive recommendations for accommodations
and/or success strategies.
