- Enrolling in college
- Taking advantage of the college’s services
- Achieving educational goals
- Finding academic success
- All of the above
YOU GUESSED IT: MATRICULATION MEANS ALL OF THE ABOVE. Its main job is to make sure that the students have the help and access to services they need to achieve academic success. More specifically, Matriculation is the process which establishes an agreement between Moorpark College and each individual student. The purpose of this agreement is to give students enough information to define and realize specific educational goals. This agreement includes responsibilities for both the College and the Student and takes the form of a Student Education Plan.
MATRICULATION MEANS THE COLLEGE FULFILLS KEY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR EACH AND EVERY STUDENT:
- ADMISSIONS & RECORDS: GETTING STUDENTS INTO THE SYSTEM.
- ASSESSMENT: DETERMINING EACH STUDENT’S BEST STARTING POINT FOR MATH, ENGLISH, ESL.
- ORIENTATION: ALERTING STUDENTS HOW TO BEST TAKE ADVANTAGE OF ALL THE COLLEGE OFFERS.
- PLANNING: HELPING STUDENTS STAY FOCUSED ON ACADEMIC SUCCESS.
- FOLLOW-UP: OFFERING STUDENTS INFORMATION ON OWN PROGRESS AND CLARIFYING WHERE TO FIND HELP.
STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES
Moorpark College does all it can to provide students with enough information to make the best choices regarding their own education. But achieving that success is really an individual endeavor. Each student must find the energy and commitment to complete the appropriate paperwork, attend class regularly, provide 110% in terms of participation. Getting a good education takes a lot of work.
ACHIEVING STUDENT SUCCESS
Essentially, each student is responsible for being engaged in his/her
own learning process, for taking the steps needed to achieve academic
