Law Enforcement careers have been fueled by public concern over rising crime rates and the increasing role of law enforcement in public service work has contributed to the growth of criminal justice agencies throughout the nation. There is a broad range of employment opportunities for men and women in all components of the Criminal Justice System. This Criminal Justice Program offers an education to students in the varied aspects of law enforcement, court procedures and corrections. A foundation of knowledge is provided for those interested in becoming competitive candidates for these rewarding and challenging positions. The Criminal Justice AA Degree Program is an academic program supporting student transfer to four year institutions for a BA in Sociology and BS in Criminal Justice as well as a vocation program providing fields of Law Enfocement, Courts, Corrections and Private Sector Security. NOTE: CRN 39567 is an on-line course taken via the Internet and a personal computer. The Moorpark College Open Access Computer Lab is available to students who need access to a computer and the Internet. To take this course, you must be comfortable using a computer, have basic word processing, email and Internet navigation skills, and be familiar with discussion rooms. Go online at www.moorparkcollege.edu. Click "online courses" from the pull down menu for more information. The Orientation will be conducted on campus, Saturday, 1/13/07 from 9:00am-12:00pm in T-118. Although this is an online course, in addition to the Orientation, there is a requirement that students attend four hours of court observation at their own scheduling.
