Introduction
Set in a casual, relaxed studio atmosphere, Moorpark
College’s Interior Design program gives students real-world
design experience through collaborative team projects and the freedom
of artistic expression. In addition to learning the basic principles
of interior design, students have the opportunity to display their
design sense in projects on campus and in the community.
While learning the foundation of interior design principles –
including color and design, space planning, textiles, lighting –
students explore the latest in Interior Design techniques such as
Feng Shui and Faux Finishing.
Students also learn how their skills fit within the industry, from
collaborating with architects on the construction of a new building
to working with a furniture manufacturer on custom designs.
Coupled with an active internship program, the Interior Design
classes prepare students for many career options, from furniture
manufacturing to textile designers, sales representatives to lighting
designers, movie set designers to everything in between.

The Interior Design course outline leads students from one step
to the next in a smooth, comfortable and logical transition. The
program’s instructors share their practical experience and
expertise, while guiding students in a direction that encourages
success at all levels.
At Moorpark College, students are offered a comprehensive overview
of the Interior Design industry, learning how the various techniques
can fit into their future careers or their continued studies.
