has worked in the dance field since she put on her first tutu at age three. Her dance training began at Rozann-Zimmerman Ballet Center where she is currently an instructor. Her professional performing began at age thirteen with Maria Tallchief at Chicago City Ballet. Ms. Gibson went on to perform with the Los Angeles Ballet, Santa Barbara Chamber Ballet, La Danserie and many other distinguished improvisation companies. Her academic training includes an AA from Moorpark College with certifications in business and fashion design, as well as many Merit Awards in speech and dance. Denise Gibson was Moorpark College’s Tane Award winner in 1993 where she was inspired to continue her dance education. Ms. Gibson Holds a BA in Dance Choreography from The University of California, Santa Barbara, where she was awarded the Patricia Sparrow Scholarship and a Teaching Assistantship in ballet. While an undergraduate student, Denise also performed with local modern dance companies such as Santa Barbara Dance Theater and Lewitsky. She received a full scholarship to study choreography & costume design from The University of California, Irvine. During her training at UCI, Denise was awarded the Faculty Research Grant, Chancellor’s Scholarship, Dean’s Council Grant and Bronstien Outstanding Artist of the Year Award. She studied modern dance extensively in England with the Limon Company and became certified in Labanotation at the Laban Center for Movement and Dance. Denise Gibson has been choreographing and designing her own productions for the last ten years and is currently the Artistic Director/Producer of her own Deda Dance Theater. Her goal is to work with the community to keep dancers of all ages learning and performing for the enjoyment and fulfillment of everyone, including the audience!
