Originally from Oceanside, Beth is excited to return to Southern California. Teaching
a variety of dance subjects including Modern, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Dance History,
Choreography and Social Dance, Beth explores the fundamental elements of movement
in her classroom as it related to all dance styles. With a background in Massage
Therapy she integrates anatomy and kinesiology thoroughly into her technique classes.
She has recently taught full-time at Fresno City College and the University of
Wisconsin, Stevens Point, and enjoys her summers in Puebla, Mexico where she teaches
and choreographs for a small contemporary dance company Quinto Elemento. Beth is
co-founder and co-artistic director of Megill & Company, under which she and her
sister Heather create new musicals and collaborative performances between musicians
and dancers.
Beth’s Master Thesis at UC Irvine focused on compositional theory and the structural
craft of composition. She is also working toward completion of her certificate in
the Language of Dance ®, a Laban based dance theory and notation system. Beth's
current choreographic work reflects her passion for the nature of dance composition
and relies heavily on music theory for its form and inspiration. In March of 2007,
Beth produced her first one-woman show "La Unica" as part of the Fresno Rogue Festival.
